Should I publish to Flash Player 6 or 7?

Additionally, you can always uninstall the Flash 6 Player, and then go to
Macromedia's site, and see how fun it is to install it yourself.

Subject: RE: [Flashnewbie] Should I publish to Flash Player 6 or 7?

Thanks for the comments, guys.

I still have one question in my head.  I understand that if I'm using Flash
MX 2004 I can easily publish with Flash Player version detection and
automatic redirect or whatever.  But my question is, how easy (and how
automatic) is the whole process for the user?  (And by whole process, I mean
the whole process of actually getting my Flash 7 app loaded and working in
their browser.)

For example, if the user has Flash Player 6, and he goes to the URL of my
Flash Player 7 app, exactly what will happen?  Will it all be automated,
will it be fast, and will my app automatically load for him immediately
after his player has been updated?  (I understand the user will at least
have to grant permission for the upgrade, and that is fine -- but if there
are any other steps, or if it's a big download, that's not so good.  Or even
if it's quick and easy, but the user is left at the Macromedia site, well
that's not too cool.)

(To answer an earlier question, my audience is a general audience, not
techies.)

Perhaps I should find a computer with Flash Player 6 and find out for
myself.

Thanks again

Ed
