Monitoring Flash Comm Applications

Okay, I have built a full fledged chatting service with a godzillian
amount of features.  We are about to deploy.  I know nothing of admining
flash comm and boss man sends me this:

"We have to be able to monitor the performance of this feature and be
alerted if performance falls off or it fails completely"

Is flash comm admin panel pretty much the only thing to use?  Can you
build custom apps to check and see the bandwidth usage, latency and
somehow set up an alert system if it all crashes?  Has anybody had
experience with this?  I'm looking for a good starting point to delve
into.  Thanks evyerbody!
