Must it be done using ActionScript?
An easy way to accomplish what you want is:
1.Convert your image to a symbol.
2.Drag an instance of the symbol onto your stage.
3.With the instance selected, display the Color menu in the Property
Inspector.
4.Select Alpha.
5.Set the alpha percentage to a very low number.

Greetings,
How might I remove the color of an image I have imported into Flash MX? This
would be similar to using Ctrl+U in Photoshop and dragging the saturation
slider all the way to the left. I would like to have this same effect in
Flash using ActionScript?
Any thoughts?
