Chat "XYZ is typing a message " 2004-03-02 - By Jayson K Hanes
Back FWIW.. not being able to comment as if I knew the right way via FCS components..
When someone is typing, send a broadcast message to all connected users (just like public chat data).. then begin an animation (obviously detected client side as NOT public chat data)... when that message is received (to the clients) from that user, stop the animation..
If the user stops typing for a period of time, or clicks outta the input field, re-broadcast the notification (which stops the animation)..
As to the patent.. um... good luck enforcing it... besides.. the patent can only cover a very specific process.. I doubt anyone can patent anything via FCS or other socket servers for that matter.
