FWIW.. not being able to comment as if I knew the right way via FCS
components..

When someone is typing, send a broadcast message to all connected users
(just like public chat data).. then begin an animation (obviously
detected client side as NOT public chat data)... when that message is
received (to the clients) from that user, stop the animation..

If the user stops typing for a period of time, or clicks outta the input
field, re-broadcast the notification (which stops the animation)..

As to the patent.. um... good luck enforcing it... besides.. the patent
can only cover a very specific process.. I doubt anyone can patent
anything via FCS or other socket servers for that matter.
