Back hi, i avoided answering this as i"ve no-longer got Flash4 and can't remember if this works in 4. But until someone says different, you try this.. - create the guide and object that is been guided. - make these into a movie clip. - use this movie clip as a mask.
I've got a feeling that you may not be able to mask with a movie clip in Flash 4, but I maybe wrong ... !!
