RE: [FlashComm] Clients getting disconnected from FCS after idle
time 2004-02-26 - By Edward Chan
Back Does anybody else experienced this? I have not been able to reproduce this. FCS should not disconnect connections if they are simply connected but not doing anything. FCS does, however, gc clients if they have gone "idle" (no network activity for some period of time), and do not respond to a ping msg. This usually happens during abnoral app shutdown, or network failure, etc. When this happens, the client is actually disconnected, but FCS thinks it is still connected. So it will try to send a ping msg to the client. If it gets a response to the ping, it knows the client is still up and is "healthy". Otherwise, if it fails to get a response to the ping, then the client must be in a bad state, and will be disconnected.
The up coming patch release does address some bugs related to client gc and the ping mechanism. However, FCS should never disconnect "healthy" clients, just because they are connected, but not doing anything. If you can provide me with a simple test case that can reproduce the problem, I'd be happy to take another look.
Thanks, Ed
