Its possible it could be a security issue. I have had a problem
that _global variables in a desktop shell could not be read by
swf 's loaded from a remote domain.
If this is the problem you can get around this by explicitly
allowing the remote domain (I think it is
system.allowDomain( "http://www.domainname.com ") in the shell.
