Back Flash folks,
I asked a question yesterday about downloading and buffering an FLV file
into a corporate lan. A client was having a problem were it would take
minutes - then suddenly begin to play. It occured to me that this behavior
might indicate that the file being downloaded was first being scanned before
being delivered to the desktop. We inquired to the network admin and this
was the case.
So - if you plan on buffering content using an FLV file, be aware that some
network filters or virus controls might be designed to hold the file till
ALL of it is received, and THEN send it to the target client. The behavior
will be that the client waits and waits with zero bytes received, then
suddenly it arrives very fast with no need of buffering.
