Back The last few days has seen a flood of activity on my site. This has caused FCS to slow down dramatically, but that is due in part because I had to stick FCS on a P4 server until I got delivery of a quad xeon which should be ready today I hope.
In any event, on the P4 fcserver seems to *spawn* other instance of the server under heavy load. WTF am I talking about? Well, I have for the third time today shutdown the fcserver only to noticed that it did indeed shutdown (at least the output says it did) but fcserver *is* still running. I run the shutdown script again and it says there is nothing to shutdown, but it's obviously still running - so I manually kill it. I start it again and everything is fine for about 3 hrs then it starts to choke (I see framerates of about 2 frames per 10 seconds - really bad) so I shutdown the server, the output really looks like it's shutting down and removing users etc, but the rooms are still online.
I'm completely stumped. I really don't care about this solving this issue because I hope to migrate to the quad tonight or tomorrow at the latest, but I do find it bizarre that the output in my shell seems to honestly think it just booted all the users off but in reality has done nothing (thus my theory that somehow a separate process started up automagically).
Sincerely, Simon
