variable/instance naming

What coding conventions are people using for variable and instance names
with MX 2004? I 'm teaching a class of art-types and wondering whether
to suggest that they use names like mcJumper or jumper_mc for
movieclips, eg, and aStates or states_array for arrays. I prefer the
former Hungarian notation sort of names in both cases, but am wondering
what is best for them to learn, both in the short term (when they will
certainly need code hints) and the long term (when they will be working
with real world designers and programmers). Should I have them edit
the ascodehints.xml file to include 'mc* ' for movieclips, or will people
be sticking with _mc style coding even in as2? (They 're already glaring
at me for making them put code into frame 1 of the main timeline instead
of on buttons, so I don 't want to make them do more than is necessary.)
Thanks for any suggestions (and any advice/references for best ways
teaching actionscript to non-programmers). And is there a new white
paper out about actionscript programming like the one that came out with MX?

Regards,
Helen
