Hmm...
I musta missed the beginning of this thread.  I was just asking about if
anyone was using that feature, and how they were finding it.

If the movieclip you have runs for say, 20 frames, you should absolutely
not need to have a corresponding 20 frames on the main timeline for it to
play.

What's your Actionscript look like at that point during the movie?

There is no difference between having an existing movieclip in the library

that you drag onto the main stage and taking a single object (such as a
jpg, textbox, or whatever) and converting it into a movieclip.  Same thing

either way ya slice it.
(depending of course on whether there needs to be linkage, instance
naming,
etc.)
