Flash performance issues - many swf 's loaded

Flash performance issues - many swf 's loaded

Hi

I have a flash movie that loads data from a backend then loads many
small thumbnail flash movies. These get placed into scrollers - menu
that display the flash movie and scroll backwards and forwards.

On one frame of the flash movie we have 3 of these scrollers. Each one
currently loads between 10 and 20 movies - displaying 2 - 5 of these
with the rest masked off of the edge of the scroller. Each of the swf 's
loaded is a static image with only one frame.

The performace of this is really bad. With two of the scrollers it is
not too bad and the slider go back and forward without much trouble.
When the contents of the third scroller is loaded the whole movie slows
down a lot. I have tried different content but still get the problem.

How many swf 's shousl I be able to load without getting bad performance.
Will masking them in the scrollers make it worse (I have tried getting
rid of the mask and the onClipEvent for each of the scrollers - no
improvement).

We 're in trouble if we can 't improve this so I 'd be extremely grateful
if anyone could help.

Giles Roadnight
