Transparency on a plane?

Transparency on a plane?

Hi all,

Quick question... I'm putting an image of a figure on a plane to use as
a billboard in a render for a birthday card (since I haven't finished
the 3d version of the character).  I've applied a transparent png file
to the colour channel, looks fine.

What do I need to do to avoid a big rectangular shadow (aside from
turning off shadows)?  I've put a black and white masked copy of the
colour image in the transparency channel, but no dice.

Any help would be much appreciated...time's running out on this one! :)

Cheers,

Glen
