Fracturing the community

Fracturing the community

It's valid in my opinion and I think it has caused scattering and a lot of
indecision among members.

I think like Wayne, the more the merrier and good luck to all. Ultimately,
it's all about the users and friends and adversaries and all that good
stuff. :-)

I think also that it's important for the future of Carrara and Hexagon that
the members of this community post on the Daz forum. It's important for our
voices to be heard and I think they're well received there.

There's been a lot of apprehension here in this group over the last couple
months, but I wonder how many people stop and think about the apprehension
that Daz may feel?

Not the user base there, but the buyers of Carrara and Hexagon themselves.
No doubt they want our support and have some question about how they will be
received. They are the ones who just took a big risk really and may see this
Yahoo forum as the "fractured" part of the community.

Rather than look at them as reeling us all in or being "Architects" of one
thing or another, I tend to look at it as welcoming us into their place.

I'm looking forward to what they'll deploy there for everyone, I know Bob
will do a great job and think it will be nice and having read the forums
there I can say that they don't edit out the "bad" press they get or
anything like that. It's all on the level as far as I can see, so I'm
optimistic.

After years of moderating this list and being an all around stand up guy I
think it's only fair to give Ringo our support too and at the very least a
benefit of the doubt.

Whatever architects there may be, they must also know that the users are the
community and will ultimately go where they feel attended to and happy.

Subject: [Carrara] Fracturing the community

I am concerned that this forced and rapid shutdown of this group is
leading to a fracturing of the community. I don't expect my opinion to
change the process but I think the architects of this change should keep
in mind that there is no harm and plenty of good in having multiple
forms and forums for discussion of Carrara. Not everyone will
participate in each forum but it does allow everyone to participate
according to their wishes. I expect there will be plenty of cross
pollination from forum to forum from enthusiasts who participate in more
than one forum.
