it's difficult to keep up with machine/os specs. can you post them,  
please?
one condition may possibly be insufficient scratch disk free space...
25% is generally recommended.
also, is this test rendering with C5 ?
can you render out single frames ? [and assemble in post?]
hardware or software open gl [if that is even a "condition", these  
days]?
