Back I think indeed you need a QTVR authoring tool, Apple makes one but not the only one.
When viewing some of those earlier mention qtvr's I see myself inside a cube of gridlines, 6 faces total. I figure it loads those 6 images and rhat's that. you can start looking around while it's still loaded. suddenly the grids switch over to the picture loaded on them.
Have you googled for qtvr ?
