Back Here is an example. I have the "motion" tab open in the properties panel. Currently when I select another object the focus goes back to the first tab at the top--which shows the surface, etc. Sounds like this does not happen to you. I will test it some more when I get home, but it happened several times last night.
I currently like the modeling room being seperate. Assembly would be cluttered with icons if you had all the modeling choices in there. Unless there was some way to signify that you were now in "model" mode and the main assembly icons were replaced momentarily.
Speaking of clutter, I also wish I could get rid of all the primitive tabs on the top in assembly. I can undock it and move it to the side but I cannot get rid of it. Those same primitives are also in the menu at the top. It would be nice to have the option to not show that toolbar because it would free up more space. If I need to insert one it would be easy enough to hit the drop down menu.
