Back The Boolean renderer sounds great! I remember seeing a simple but impressive demo of a Boolean renderer that showed how useful it could be. The scene included a glass , and a white cylinder in the glass representing milk. An invisible cube performed a Boolean operation (through shading) to chop off the upper half of the milk object. So you could tip the glass left and right, but the top surface of the milk would stay level. And by wobbling the cube a bit, you could add some realistic movement to the surface of the milk. I would love to be able to do that sort of thing in Carrara.
The question is, in the example I've given, would your shader be able to maintain the top surface of the milk, or would it turn the milk into an open-ended cylinder? The shader would certainly be much more useful if it could keep the cut object "solid"
