Hmm, you need to update the manual also then.

Quote from the C5 manual:
"The Light Cone effect post-processes the
rendered picture by adding visible light
beams from spot lights."

Also since even without color interaction the light beams are
stopped abruptly by any object (transparent or not) it is what I
associate with a "post" effect.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck and looks like a duck,
it most probably is...
