Yes, for a few years now Apple has not set upgrade prices for their "cheap" software. So everytime you want to upgrade system software, iLife or QTPro, you have to buy the full version (or a new Mac will get you the first 2). I guess for $30 we can't complain too much, but since you can't have 2 versions of QT installed at the same time (ie., QT6Pro + QT7 Player), it's kind of annoying.
PS: QT7 is a recent release. I don't think QT8 will be out until next year, so put aside $1/ week in your QuickTime fund jar and you'll be ready.
