Back Everything was made from scratch in Carrara.
The basic shader is rather simple. In color channel there is a mixer with a jpg-image as source1 and a color as source 2. The blender is a simple value (0-100%). Additionally there is a mixer in the bump channel using the same jpg as blender for two value(0-100%)s as sources. This shader which is applied to the big sphere in my demo image seems to render correctly in both modes.
The shader for the doors that have this odd pattern is a multi channel mixer with the shader from above as reference shader in source1 and a simple color in source 2. Another texture map (jpg) is used as blender.
But wait... just in the moment I wrote this I had the idea to copy the main shader into the door shader instead of referencing it. A quick render test seemed to work!!! Great! I'll make a view more tests, but it looks good up to now.

Maybe Carrara has a problem with reference shaders in certain circumstances.
