That's probably the best option. For the same price, you'll get Amapi (bundled with CS4) and a printed manual (even if it will be somewhat outdated soon). I can sell you "Carrara 1 for dummies" real cheap ;-). 3DXtract has great tutorials in PDF format, and Mike has a book coming out soon.
