Don't think the lightning bolt made it in this version of the software
with that specific funtion (It acts as a deselector now).  However, in
the PC version you can use F3 (don't know what the Mac equivalent is),
or go to the top menu tool bar and select the middle cube icon that
says in the roll-over text "Select Edges".  By turning that on, you
should be able to select any edge and delete it.  And if you just want
it to go away without leaving a hole, you can use the backspace key
to "dissolve" it (at least that is how it works on the PC).
