Thanks folks and Eric - It was the clicking to the left of the arrow in the
header name that finally did it. In the past, I had clicked on the name,
the arrow to collapse the view or expand the view, etc. and it never
worked - odd that they would make it be the left of the arrow and have no
indication there that that's where to click to highlight the header bar...

Thanks everyone - a longtime, mysterious frustration solved! ; )
