Spin and tweener hell

Spin and tweener hell

Hi Group,

I'm trying to create an animation of a ball rolling and am having all
kinds of problems with the spin modifiers and tweeners. Working in
Carrara 3 Studio for Mac.

First, I discovered that you apparently cannot stack two spin modifiers
on the same object - to simulate a ball that's rolling slightly off
true axis, for example - only one modifier will work .

I also discovered that Spin Axis is apparently NOT keyframable. What if
your ball bounces off a wall and changes direction?

I tried "the old fashioned way" , but the object motion tab will not
allow any rotation values outside of -180 thru 180, so I couldn't set
up a 2700 degree roll over 5 seconds, for instance.

I'm trying to slow the ball to a gradual stop - which I've done with no
problem as far as the actual motion of the ball, but I cannot get the
spin to follow the same tweener curve. Let's say a one keyframe i start
the ball spinning at 1.5 rot/sec (visually tracking the movement of the
ball object), and then 5 seconds later, another keyframe of 0.0 rot/sec
(where the ball stops moving). The only tweener that gives the expected
result is "discreet" which stops spinning abruptly at the second
keyframe. The other tweeners cause the spin to slow down and then
reverse direction near the middle of the tween.

WTF!?!

I have been playing with curves, eases, and tightens till I'm
cross-eyed.

What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
