Back C4Pro with Amapi is a really good combo for the money. I don't know how familar you are with Amapi, some people don't care for it. I, personally really learned how to model in Amapi 6 and it is very capable. C4Pro is a really good to use also. You could gradually pick up some plugins to do a good bit of what is new in C5, such as Shader Ops and Replica. If you learn Amapi then when you can get Hexagon you won't miss a beat in transitioning to it. Hexagon is quicker and easier to use than Amapi, but they have much of the toolset in common. As far as bringing object into Carrara that works well.
