Hello Carrara Gurus,
I am thinking about upgrading to Carrara Pro 4 from Studio 3. I have
read as much as I could from Eovia's site, as well as reviews from
several sources which may or may not know what they are talking about.
I am especially interested in Amapi Designer 7. Has anyone here used it
extensively with Carrara?
How well does the importer bridge software work with carrara? Does it
play well on Mac OS X? I don't have system 9 anymore which is why I
can't use version 5.5 that came with CS3 and I also can't use version
6.1 that is available from Eovia as a free download. I can't speak for
Version 6.1 but version 5.5 does not run smoothly in classic on X.
In your opinion how well does Amapi fill the gap left by C4 in the
things it can't do?( I have no idea yet what those might be!). I know
it does not come with a paper manual but, and without starting a PDF
war, how close does the pdf manual come to what a real manual might be
like similar to what we have come to expect in the Carrara manuals?
I know some might say these questions are better asked on the Amapi
list but I am interested in your experience in how the two apps Amapi
and Carrara fit together. Unfortunately I can't see myself upgrading to
C5 pro and Hexagon, with the Holidays on the way, my youngest still in
college, and 6 grand children, dollars will be a little tight. I am
thinking that $ 169 for C4 Pro with Amapi is more attainable than $299
for CS5 pro and $299 for Hex.
I appreciate any and all constructive remarks and apologize for the
rambling.
