I know your are the moderator of the Vue group at yahoo groups and you
are also a Carrara users. I have known you for a long time now. You have
done some really nice trees are they available by any chance?
Anyways regarding your question.
At this point in time we can't seen out what you have requested.
The translucency for leaves won't be available until the final release
of Carrara 5 in December.

ok, I forgot to mention and maybe it's important: leaves need to be
trans-mapped planes, not full geometry figures. Therefore, the
translucency
must be material-based, not physical-based - this is why I have a doubt,
that SSS may not work with leaf maps - if it works with volumes, it may
be
useless for flat, transmapped object planes.
