Back Hi Don
As a work around for your spline modeling dilemma, you can build a modeling box consisting of three planes set at right angles to each other in the assembly room and project your elavations onto these planes, just make sure that you have textures turned on. Then when you create a new spline object, place it into this modeling box, when you jump to the modeling room you will be able to reference your modeling activities with the scene preview view port. Its a bit clumsy but works well enough.
Might have a go at a screen shot later on today.
Just as an aside to this I really did like CS1's preview port over later versions, you could drag that sucker on to a second monitor and get a much better view of what was going on in your assembly room over the sad little thing in later versions. Something that I would like to see re-implemented.
Best of Luck David
