I've been experimenting with the free samples textures of trees.

Apologies, this tutorial only touches currently a little bit on
Carrara. Much is mentioned on working with the images, preparing them
for compositing, if necessary, converting them to other formats if
needed. There's some Quicktime Pro and Dogwaffle use. I will have more
specific to Carrara Studio 3 and Carrara 5 uses of it in the near future.

For those reading this and who are using RayDream or Carrara 1.1 to
C2, be aware that there is also a plant generator since CS3:

I do believe that the trick (and the fun) is to use a mix of 3D trees,
2D plants and postwork with paint systems like particle brushes.
