Becareful about stock houses like Istock.  Your payout is extremely
low when compared to other houses, and even then houses give only a
faction of what a true freelancer would get paid.

For example, assuming everyone buys the high quality $3 image.  The
average number of downloads per images appears to be considerably less
than 25 (but we'd use 25 for our example), unless you really have an
exceptional image then it's about 100 to 200 over the course of an
entire year... Anyway, you get $0.20 for the dollar at Istock. So you
get $0.60 per high quality download.  25 x $0.60 = $15.   Now consider
how long that image took to make?  Also, think that this is after a
year of being up there and you don't get any paid-outs unless you have
earned at least $100 worth from all your images.

In my option, this isn't worth the effort to create illustrations for.
