What's New in Hexagon 1.2
Dynamic Symmetry Modeling
The Symmetry Modeling mode automatically replicates your manipulations on the mirror part of any symmetrical object. Ideal for character modeling, or for the creation of numerous symmetrical objects!
Bridge Tool
Want to create a joining surface in a snap, to stitch a handle on a pot, or create a bridge between two mountains? The Bridge Tool instantly builds a connecting surface between two selections!
Extended Selections
The Select 1/N parameter, applied after a Ring or a Loop selection, restricts the selection to one slice on N, allowing you to control regular parts of a surface, such as to crumple an envelope. The Dynamic Selection Painter expands or restricts the selected faces along the direction given by your mouse movement. Control your selection even more naturally!
Dissociate Tool
The Dissociate Tool disconnects the faces sharing the selected vertices, making it just easy then to work from the open parts, to create an eye in a face, fringes on the border of a cloth, and more!
Tesselated Cube
The 3D-Parallepiped Primitive now has an extra parameter: its number of slices. Support of Alpha Channel in texture maps
In Hexagon 1.2, you can now apply RGBA textures with Alpha Channel. This is an essential capability to map a transparent RGB texture, such as hair or clothes, on a character.
New Lightmaps
Three great new lightmaps (Skin-map, Metalic-map, and Toon-map) have been added to the default ones for more visual comfort in appreciating the curvatures of surfaces. Edge Tools on multiselection
Edge Tools such as Extract Around, Extract Along and Fillet now works on multi-selected edges for even quicker edge modeling. And more features!
* Isolate: an instant way to mask all object except the current selected one. Hitting the Isolate shortcut again make the hidden objects reappear immediately. Very handy when working in a scene with many elements!
* Image on grids: grids now support rectangular images and the grid size can be set along X, Y and Z.
* Drag-and-Drop: 3D primitives can now be created in one step by drag-and-drop od the tool icon on the 3D view. 3D files can also be opened by drag-and-drop from the file system explorer to the 3D view.
* Topology selections: To select only: n-gones, triangles, knot vertices (to detect topology "stars"), non manifold edges, non planar polygons and only quads. Very helpful when you need to export to a specific software as Zbrush or Lightwave.
* Hide / Show selection: Now operates on selected faces and allows to mask a part of on object, to work for example on backward parts that are hidden by the front part of the object.
* Automatic Tesselators: Instant tools that will subdivide in a click the selected face(s) as a quad, triangle or rhombus.
* Edge tool manipulators on topology: the widget is now displayed on the smoothing and no longer on the control shape.
* Dolly around selection: Holding the Ctrl/Command key while using the mouse dolly will make the user camera rotate around the selection. Very convenient when working on a detail of a model
* Bug fixes: several corrections and improvements have been done in this version.
