Back I read this last night from 3DTotal. I wonder what's up with all the mergers going on right now; Adobe gets Macromedia, Autodesk(formerly Discret) gets Alias, Corel buys the Paint Shop software, and Microsoft acquires even more companies (specifically game companies).
According to what I read, this is Autodesk's 17th acquistion. Question is now, what do they plan to do with Wavefront and Maya? I doubt they will continue these products which costs less than their flagship product, although, I think they will incorporate some of the technology into Max.
And unlike Lightwave and SoftImage (XSI), Autodesk has not been decreasing their price to expand their markets. So does that mean that AutoDesk will be looking into those applications/companies as well?
