That won't work in Carrara.

Unfortunately, the best way to accomplish this in
Carrara is in the Vertex Modeler which isn't part of
Carrara Basics.

But you can "sorta" do it in the Spline Modeler by
drawing a "half-u" shape on the cross section plane
and then using the "Torus" preset to make that
object round. Try it.

Carrara 3 is discounted and available online for under
$90. Santa can probably afford that. The Vertex Modeler
in version 3 is quite capable.
