Oh, I don't know, I don't see any reason why most of the
functionality of Hexagon couldn't and shouldn't be implanted in
Carrara.  I think that these 2 apps are targeted at 2 different
markets.  Carrara is for folks who want it all, while Hexagon is for
folks who want a stand alone modeler to suppliment a
rendering/animation package that they already are comfortable with
and don't want to leave.  Their individual price points indicate
this notion as well, yet there are a couple of stand alone modelers
out there that are pretty decent for just over a hundred bucks.

There are quite a few programs out there in the 500-600 dollar range
that are competing for customers, like softimage xsi and truespace.
Even a couple of the heavy weights have been dropping in price like
Lightwave and EI.  I guess it all comes down to, where does Eovia
want to be in this market?  They have the talent to be where ever
they want to, so why not set your sights on making the other guys
really sweat?

I really like the look and feel of Hexagon as a modeler and I hope
to see Carrara's interface move in that direction or atleast provide
an optional interface.  If I didn't already have another modeler I
might be interested in buying the companion upgrade of Hexagon.  I
use Silo and find it to be simple to use and quite versatile for the
price.  I can't afford to lay out the money to buy Hexagon right now
and there are no features in it that would compell me to change from
what I already have.  This is not a knock on Hexagon or Eovia, it's
just a matter of personal economics.  I have to work with what I
have since this is a hobby and learning experience for me.

I'm just trying to provide useful feedback since I know that Eovia
monitors this list.  If customers buy Carrara and find that they
have a good experience using the modelers packaged with it, they are
more likely to stay customers.
