I'm born and raised in New Orleans and my house was under 11'6" of water.
Last time I checked online there was still 2'6" in the house. It could be
lower by now but that water has been in there for over 3 weeks now. I've
lost everything, including a copy of your book. Eovia has been very helpful
to me under these circumstances and I thank them for it.
Temporarily my kids and I are in Schertz, TX in northeast San Antonio. I
have family and friends here. Looks like they will be bulldozing our
neighborhood. We were only 4 blocks from the 17th St canal levee break in
the northwest corner of New Orleans. Most of the water that headed downtown
had to pass through our neighborhood. Nav to http://maps.google.com/ and
paste 407 37th St, New Orleans, LA. Our house is just to the left of the
marker. Press the red Katrina button and you can see just how close we were.
I also lost a car that was left behind.
You never think it can happen to you. Be very careful of Rita. I can tell
you from recent experience that hurricanes are something to be taken
seriously.
Fortunately for me I belong to an online racing league and those guys have
been very generous to my family. That's something I will never forget. One
of the things I use Carrara for is rendering my paint jobs that I do for the
guys in the league. I guess it paid off when I needed it most.

This is Mike de la Flor, I am the primary author of the new Carrara
book. I am also in Houston, Texas, which is just east of where
Hurricane Rita will make landfall as a catagory 5 storm.
Consequently, I have shut my down offices and studio and expect to
have no power for at least a week or longer.
