Back Hi John,
Both the Pan Hand and the Zoom Magnifying Glass (underneath the Pan Hand) allows you to pan and zoom in the ortho views, respectively. In the 3D perspective view, you can use the navigational controls to look around your objects and scene with the camera selected for that view.
