Unfortunatly I do not have time to find the other links, but I have
always said that you cannot believe everything you read in one forum
or blog posting. I am sure a little personal research will provide
more information.

It is rumored that the next version of Windows called Vista will not
support hardware improvements of OpenGL version 2.0 and only support
OpenGL version 1.4 after running it in a layer over their operating
system. This will cause a major speed reduction. They will however
support DirectX; their own version of hardware acceleration.

Since Eovia software (along with almost all graphic software I own)
use OpenGl and do not use DirectX; this is a tragedy. Older versions
of Carrara supported DirectX acceleration, but I only find software
and OpenGL selections in Carrara 4 Pro.

I am sure everyone has their own speculation as to why they are
doing this. The only thing I know is that I do not want to have to
pay for new hardware and the cost of software companies changing
their software from OpenGL to DirectX.

My machine is 64 bit so in a worst case senario I can switch to
Windows x64 and lose some of the software that has 16 bit
installers. The future for new windows workstations is not so rosey
though.

If you feel this is outrageous like I do.... do something about it.
Remember Eovia (as far as I know) uses OpenGL exclusively for their
hardware acceleration, so this will affect you.
