Interesting... Although I wasn't planning to actually see this one, I had thought that this was being done with 3D computer animation and not stop-motion animation. I've always liked stop-motion animation as a kid and that was one of the things that got me interested in animation. But now with computer 3D animation, it seems as though you can do the same thing with more flexibility. Just a thought.
