Back A similar effect could happen with any texture if the UV Unwrapping isn't right. Assuming your model is a VM, select the UV Mapping tab and choose to edit it. Adjust the settings/mesh as needed in that companion room.
This should fix the problem. Also, sent the texture map is applied to the object already, you should see it in the background of the UV room so you can line up the UVs to the texture.

PS: I've found this to be very common with imported .3ds and with some imported .obj files.
