Keep a mind of upgrade costs as well. I looked at the lightwave deal.
But it is expensive to upgrade and after I tried a demo of it yet
again I decided its much to unwieldy. Plus the upgrade cost for LW are
$495 for shipped and $395 for electronic download. While upgrading
Carrara Pro is only $189 for electronic download or $199 for shipped.

I'd also like to direct you to this deal:
http://www.thebest3d.com/carrara/index.html

For $49.50 plus shipping you can purchase Carrara 3. Then its either
$189 or $199 for the upgrade. So you could pay as little as $238.50
for the latest version of Carrara. With all that money you saved you
you could purchase the advanced pack and the power pack:)

Or you could get hexagon as a companion modeler for Carrara.

One thing I love about Carrara's plugins is that they are inexpensive
and upgrades are free from version to version of Carrara.

Best thing to do of course is to demo Carrara and see how you like it.
