Procedural Shaders and Texture Maps

Procedural Shaders and Texture Maps

Hello,

I 'm curious if anyone has found a reliable method for getting good
texture maps out of Carrara from procedural shaders when exporting a
model? From past experience with other 3D software, I know that in
general, procedural shaders should be avoided when developing models
that will be exported.

I 've been playing with Veloute, and would love to be able to export
these shaders as a texture maps that look similar to the original
shader. I 've been using the "convert procedural shaders to textures "
check box on export with limited success.

I know I could render the shader on a flat plane shot staight on,
and then use that rendered image as a texture map. I would like to
know if anyone has a more direct method?

Regards,
Chris
