Hi James,
Well, sorta. :-)
You can do what Claudia suggested, but you might
have more control by converting all of your separate
objects into vertex objects and then bringing them
into one vertex object window. There, you can weld
some of the parts together while leaving others
separate and applying shader domains to them.
The reason I suggest this method is because, when
you apply one shader to a complex object, you might
get some distortions on parts of it. It depends on
the shapes and the shader you are applying, of course.
Since I haven 't seen what your project is, that 's all
of the advice I can give. Be sure to save a copy of
your original files so, if blunders happen, you can
retreat to a previously saved version, too.
