Well, I 've installed my new MP 2600 's and the results are in.
Before: 7:43 (dual Athlon MP 1800 Thoroubred core 256k cache) (3.05% of Base
Time)
After: 5:25 (dual Athlon MP 2600 Barton core 512k L2 cache and 2 64k L1
caches) (2.14% of Base Time)
That 's 30% faster. I guess that extra speed and larger L2 cache really paid
off.
I almost sprung for the 2800 's but that was another $82 for the pair. I
think I made the right choice.
Next up, I 'll be testing C3 and Amapi Designer 7 with OpenGL since I just
updated my video card drivers. It used to be horrendously slower than the
Eovia software renderer in C3.
I was having problems with Amapi crashing doing extrusions but the new
drivers cleared that up. Now I may just be able to get through Brycetechs
Amapi tutorial CD. :)
