Go to draft render and pick wireframe. Everything will be a
wireframe, though.
You 'd have to render just the sphere, then add it in later.

That 's a function of the GIF/TFF image processing itself. You 'll have
to pick (say absolute black) as a "transparent " color, and then tell
the image program you use to build your image that that particular
color is transparent.
Carrara does not have (to my knowledge) a setting that allows you to
output a transparent background. You could put the background in the
alpha channel of a gif image, but that depends on the output format
understanding a transparency/alpha channel. bitmaps do not, that I
know of....
