For very large objects in scenes, you will probably
have to create a texture map in a program like
Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and then import it
into the shader tree in at least the color channel.
Make sure that you create these maps with lots
of pixels in them so, if they are close to the camera,
they will still have enough pixels to render properly.
Your next question is probably "how big is big enough? "
That really depends on the final size of the rendering
you want to do and a number of other issues. One
way to think about it is, if your final rendering is 600
pixels wide, then make your texture map 2-3 times
that -- 1800 pixels would be more than enough most
of the time. The general idea is that you have to have
enough pixels to allow Carrara to render all of the
detail you need in the final rendering. Trial and error
is often the best course of action.
