problem with transparency/alpha channel 2004-04-25 - By David Bell
Back Dexter,
The way I have solved this in the past is to create an additional pass to create a luma mask that I can then use to punch a hole in what needs to be transparent. It does mean making a copy of your .car file and retexturing, and it does work like a charm.
roughly
copy .car file turn off all illumination (lights, sun, ambient --- don't forget the ambient) texture all opaque elements with a white in the glow channel, nothing in all others texture transparent elements with black in glow channel re run your animation and you will have a mask
Hope this helps.
Yours, David
