K.C.,

I think you're going to have a tough time matching
all of the wood patterns you need with procedural
textures. Is there any chance you can contact the
manufacturer of the woods used and see if they have
images of their FULL sheets? That will give you much
better results.

I did a web site for a veneer company and used
Carrara for a lot of illustrations, but more used texture
maps of woods I gleaned from the web. The problem
with many of those textures, however, is that they are
very low resolution, rarely a repeat patterns and only
show a small section of a large wood panel.

This illustration is done with procedurals because none
of the surfaces require large expanses showing the grain:

The numbers on this page were all texture maps available
online -- although I can't remember where I got them all;
search using Google Images and you should be able to
locate them or check the free texture sections of major
3D web sites:

The panels on this page were texture maps, but the
logs on the right of the page were procedurals:

This particular image was created in an old program I had
that came with CorelDraw (version 6, I think). It was called
CorelTexture and made some rather nice woods of a general
nature; you won't be able to do something like Bird's Eye
Maple, however:

If you have the bucks, there is a photo CD titled, "Executive
Textures," which has about 30 very nice large expanse images
of beautiful woods within the 100 images on the disk. It costs
$399 dollars and I wish I could afford it. I can't remember the
company that produced it, but if you search for it by title on
Google, I'm sure it will pop up.
