Hi K.C.

It's hard for me to envision exactly what your problem is, but one
piece of advice is to make sure that you are using the "seamless"
feature along with the "tile" feature for your texture maps.  I have
uploaded two images containing natural wood texture maps that use
these features and they bascially look "natural".

Also, make sure you are using appropriate shinniness/highlight/bump
channel values.  

Do you mind posting some images of your problem?  That would give me
and others an idea of what you are looking for.
