Sounds like it may be a codec compatibility situation with the final animation file. Perhaps all the codec file info did not transfer over during the upgrade or the 2003 version of PowerPoint may now be only supporting a limited cache of codecs. I have a few files but they are all AVIs utilizing the DIVX codec. Could you share what file format the problematic animation files are in? Could you also share what codec they use? I know that I have experienced problems with movie files in PowerPoint and the solution has always been finding the proper codec for that format. It seems that PowerPoint is picky that way.
